Thoracic Surgery clinic of Ankara Güven Hospital is specialized particularly in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. All invasive diagnostic methods, such as bronchoscopy, mediastinoscopy and videothorascopy, are employed with high success rates in the clinic. In the preoperative period, patients are assessed by a team, comprising of oncologist, pulmonologist and radiologist in a multidisciplinary approach. All lung cancer surgeries including extended pulmonary resections are performed by academician surgery staff of Thoracic Surgery Clinic at Ankara Güven Hospital.
Thoracic Surgery Clinic has a capacity of 500 operations per year. In the postoperative period, patients are jointly followed up by Thoracic Surgeons, Intensive Care Specialists, and Pulmonary Physiotherapists. Additionally, patients experience a comfortable and painless postoperative period, since Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) and epidural analgesia techniques are used.
The Thoracic Surgery practices involve treatment of conditions called Thoracic Surgery emergencies, namely removal of foreign bodies from trachea and esophagus, injuries of lung and thoracic wall, which may or may not require surgery. Thoracic Surgery clinic plays an effective role in early diagnosis of diseases within the scope of thoracic surgery, in addition to surgical treatment modalities. The patients are followed up by Thoracic Surgeons, Intensive Care Specialists, Respiratory Physiotherapists and nurses in postoperative period. Moreover, “Patient-Controlled Analgesia (PCA)” and “Epidural Analgesia” techniques are also used for the patients in postoperative course.
