MIDCAB is also called as "key hole" surgery. coronary artery by-pass in beating heart or "beating heart" surgery is a surgical technique used in the treatment off coronary heart disease without using heart-lung machine. In most by-pass surgeries, the heart is stopped and the heart-lung machine takes over the functions of heart and lungs. If a cardiovascular surgeon prefers to operate on beating heart, the patient will be free of the risks originating from the heart-lung machine.
